Making changes to help you support local

From Monday, August 3, we’re making some changes to help our town centres get back on their feet, helping our businesses – and you – to stay safe and thrive.

So when you pop into town over the coming weeks, you will notice changes being made.

Some of our town centre streets are being pedestrianised to support traders to bring their business outdoors, and to allow safe queuing and social distancing.

One-way systems for walkways are being brought in to place in some areas, and additional space created for pedestrians by changing some parking bays.

A number of new 20mph zones are also being introduced on many streets to ensure pedestrian safety.

It is hoped the measures will not only create a safer place for people to shop local, support traders and enjoy coming into our town centres, but have a positive impact on our environment too – providing more space and improving air quality.

Town centre streets that are being improved for safety will be pedestrianised between 10am and 4pm but will be accessible outside these core hours.

All of these new and temporary measures will be kept under review and we will be engaging with traders, shoppers and visitors to get your feedback. Keep your eyes peeled for online surveys through our website and on our social media pages, or email us at consultation@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Take a look to see what you can expect when you visit and remember – Respect, Protect, and Enjoy Carmarthenshire…

Respect – guidelines, safety measures, local communities and others around you

Protect – yourself, other people, and critical services; stay home if you’re unwell and wash your hands often

Enjoy – spend your leisure time safely and support local businesses get back on their feet.
