It was with great pleasure as Town Mayor that I was able to present Rev. Hugh James with a black cat plaque on behalf of Kidwelly Town Council.

Knitathon

Saturday 28th January and Sunday 29th January 2012

Over 24 hours 6 ladies, joined at times by other friends, crocheted and knitted for 24 hours, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK...

The result..... A 12 metre scarf and a patchwork blanket..... the final sum raised is still being counted....... Thank you for all of your support...

Kidwelly's Got Talent

The Kidwelly Netball Club held another successful evening, where as Town Mayor I was honoured to be asked to judge all different catagories by all ages. The talent I witnessed was so tremendous.

My Consort, Huw and I really enjoyed this successful concert with all different artists. What an honour it was as Town Mayor to present the Swindon Choir with a Kidwelly Black Cat plaque to take back with them, when we joined them the next day at the Red Lion in Llandyfaelog

The Mayor's Christmas Card

This year the Mayor approached the three local schools for the design of her Christmas Card. All of the entries were of an amazingly high standard and the judging was very difficult although enjoyable

The winner of the Christmas Card Design was Charlotte Town of Ysgol y Castell School

                                       

 Runners up was Nia Griffiths of Ysgol Gwenllian School, Anwen Gower of Ysgol Mynyddygarreg school

The Only Way is Kidwelly

The Mayor met the contestant for the Miss Universe, who was fundraising for her chosen charity before the finals in Cardiff next February

Christmas Lighting Ceremony

Kidwelly Christmas lighting ceremony was a major success, the annual yuletide extravaganza was celebrated with carols sang around the tree accompanied by the Salvation Army on the Town Square.

There was a range of Christmas stalls as well as mulled wine and mince pies on offer and children had the chance to meet Santa and his special Elf in his grotto.

The community really came together and as Town Mayor I am delighted with the outcome and I am overwhelmed by the wonderful feedback received.

 

Cefn Sidan Rotary Club

Burns World Record

I was very honoured to be asked to be an official, independant verifier and observer for the record of the largest numbers of dogs in an obediance class, the record was for three commands spoken in Welsh to over 325 dogs with their owners. This is the largest event of its kind in one arena in Wales.

Mayor's Italian Evening

The second Mayor's event was held at the Time for Tea, a tasty Italian evening. I believe in promoting and supporting the the businesses and organisations in the area that I love. It was a great night and was well supported by the local community and my fellow dignitaries.

Kidwelly Beer festival

This sucessful event was held in the Princess Gwenllian Centre, around 330 people attended throughout the day. During the event 32 varieties of beer, 9 ciders and wine all locally produced were on offer. This was the 5th festival organised by the Trustees. I had great fun selling the beer tokens at the event and I am happy to announce that the 'Mayor's Inspiration' ale won the vote for being the most popular.

Kidwelly Station and 1st Kidwelly Scouts

I was asked by the 1st Kidwelly Scouts to offically open the refurbishment work that had been undertaken by the Scouts and Cubs. With the help of the young people we unveiled the plaque that commemorates their hard work and all of the sponsors involved. How honoured I was to see my name associated with this work.

Kidwelly Horticultural Show

I was very honoured to be asked to be President at the Kidwelly Horticultural 40th Annual Show for the day.

There was a large variety of floral, vegetable, arts and crafts, wines and displays from the young people

Trinity's Pet Service

Rev. Felicity Randall held a serivce for the pets of the local community. A large variety of animals attended the cermony with their owners. Rev. Felicity blessed each and every animal individually and a good time was had by all.

Kidwelly Carnival 2011

What an excellent day !! Thank you to the Welfare Committee for arranging a full packed, exciting family day out.

All of the community turned out on this beautiful day to enjoy all of the fun activities on the field and the action packed displays

I was proud to lead the procession of the Carnival parade around the Town.

Girl Guides at the Quay

To celebrate the RSPB Cymru Centenary and the Girl Guides Association 100 years Birthday, an event was held at the Kidwelly Quay.

Lady Susan Mansel Lewis, President of the Girl Guides, Leaders, Girl Guides, Brownies and Rainbows from Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire enjoyed a day of pond dipping, walks and birdwatching with the RSPB field team

Clock Rededication

Following the work on the Spire, Tower and West wall of St Mary's Church, work was also carried out to refurbish the Town Clock.

A rededication ceremony was held on the 31st of May with the Bishop of St David's, John de la Bere

Beating the Bounds

Saturday 28th May 2011

Beating of the Bounds was an annual Walk which informed residents youndg and old of the boundary lines of the Kidwelly Parish.

Town Mayor, Jeanette Gilasbey, Revivied this tradition this year. Walkers were invited to join the 12 mile walk starting from St Mary's Church Parish rooms on Saturday the 28th May.

All monies raised by the walkers was split between their chosen organisation in the Town and the the Mayor's own Charity. Every Walker participating was sent a certificate to certify that thet took part in the event.
